Eola Glassworks - Resume
Featuring the glass artistry of Lynda Barrett
Artist
Statement:
My passion is for the Tiffany representational style of stained glass.
I have spent the last 25+ years exploring and experimenting with the techniques
of sandblasting, fusing, slumping, mold making, lampworking (manipulating
glass with a torch), mosaic and glass painting. I have been able
to apply all of these techniques at various time in my artwork and by doing
this am able to give the representational style of stained glass my own
unique voice.
Many of my subjects are of women and the moments of contemplation or
revelation in their lives. I like for my art to have lots of texture
or unexpected elements in them. To create a desire for the viewer
to come closer, to touch my art physically and for my art to touch them
emotionally by creating a longing for them to be the subject in my art.
The art I create for myself allows me to experiment with different techniques.
In some of my stained glass panels I have fused glass to create detailed design
elements. I have created molds to slump glass in to give my windows a
very dimensional effect. I have created my own glass using crushed glass
and a kiln. All these techniques allow me to create the perfect piece
conveying mood and emotion.
