At Eola Glass works, we are are frequently
asked these questions.
Q. Do you have a set group of patterns you build windows from? A. We do have a pool of pattern resources. However, what we really like to do, is to find out what our clients would like, and try to create a custom pattern that is made especially for them. Often that may mean combining several design elements from some existing patterns to create a new pattern. We have designed custom panels from photographs, original ideas, designs from wall paper, upholstery fabric, and more. We can turn just about anything into a stained glass design. Q. My window opening is an unusual shape. Can you make a design from a book fit? A. Often we can
do that by making some slight changes. All windows seem to be different
and most designs we do, even one straight out of a pattern book,
have to be modified to fit most
Q. How long does it take to build a window? A. That usually depends on the design. It will also depend on whether or not we have the glass you would like to use in stock. We may have to order special order the glass. You can usually figure that it will be no less than two weeks once the pattern is approved. If the design is complex, then it can take anywhere from two weeks to many months, that is all determined once the design and glass choices are finalized. Q. Can you make stained glass panels to replace existing windows in a house? A. Yes, and again no. Often that will depend on the building codes in your area. We can make stained glass panels that could fit into any opening, but in order to meet building codes it may mean that you will have to have tempered glass placed on one or both sides of the stained glass piece. It is always best to check with a contractor before you start this process, unless you plan to install the window yourself. Q. Do you install windows? A. The State of Oregon requires anyone who installs or removes windows to have a contractors license. We choose not to do this because, this is not our area of expertise. We are art glass window builder, and not contractors. We are always more than happy to work with your contractor, or we can recommend contractors that we have successfully worked with. Q. Do you make custom sized and or designed glass cabinet doors? A. Yes, we can make them to match other cabinet doors you have, or create an entirely new design. Q.
